Un cercetător român de la Stanford, în spatele unui experiment fără precedent: țesut cerebral uman, transplantat în șoareci

A Romanian researcher at Stanford University leads an experiment that may enhance the study of neurological and psychiatric diseases. Sergiu Pașca's team transplanted human brain tissue into genetically modified mice, allowing the cells to form functional connections with the animals' nervous systems. The study, published in Nature, involved creating mice with significant portions of their own cortex removed to accommodate the human tissue. This tissue, developed as cortical organoids, generated diverse cortical cell types and established connections within the mouse nervous system. The experiment enables researchers to observe human neuron development and responses in a living organism, marking a significant advancement in understanding human brain development and related disorders.
