Un castel medieval „pierdut” a fost descoperit ascuns într-o clădire universitară din Dublin

A medieval castle, believed to have been demolished 150 years ago, has been discovered within a building at University College Dublin. Professor Tadhg O’Keeffe confirmed that the walls of the Norman castle are preserved beneath the current structure. Roebuck Castle, built in the early 13th century, served as a significant fortification. The oldest part of the castle dates back to this period, with the courtyard of the current building actually being the castle's courtyard. The castle fell into ruin in the 18th century and was thought lost, but a 1765 painting provided clues about its structure. Modifications over time have incorporated the medieval walls into the existing building, leading UCD to claim it may be the oldest standing structure on a university campus in Ireland.
