Japan has successfully engaged 1,800 people in moving the main tower of Hirosaki Castle back to its original site as part of a restoration project. The operation involved teams pulling on long ropes to shift the 360-ton structure, which had been relocated for repairs after an earthquake. The event attracted significant interest, with 8,000 applications for the limited spots available. The traditional method used, called hikiya, allows for the entire building to be moved without dismantling it. Following the tower's return, further conservation efforts will commence, with public access expected to resume in 2033.
