Prosecutors in Bucharest have charged a man for defrauding numerous individuals through an illegal subletting scheme. He rented apartments in a residential complex and sublet them without the owners' consent, leading to significant financial losses for victims. The investigation revealed that he created fake rental contracts and opened cryptocurrency wallets in the victims' names to conceal the money trail. Initially, 15 victims reported the fraud, but the number increased to 35, with total losses amounting to approximately €12,000 and 36,000 lei. The accused is under judicial control and faces charges of fraud and computer falsification.
