A man had 25 grams of cannabis returned by DIICOT after a court ruling, but was stopped by gendarmes an hour later and had it confiscated again. A new criminal case was opened against him. The cannabis was initially seized at Otopeni Airport in July 2024, but the case was closed due to lack of criminal intent. The courts ruled that cannabis can be legally brought into Romania under certain medical conditions. After the ruling, the man received his cannabis back, only to have it taken again shortly after while traveling to a hearing with his lawyers.
