"Un avertisment pe care România nu trebuie să-l ignore". Un oficial BNR sună alarma după ce investițiile străine s-au prăbușit cu 82%

The first half of 2026 saw a significant decline in foreign direct investments (FDI) in Romania, dropping by 82% compared to the previous year. BNR's Deputy Governor Leonardo Badea highlighted three main reasons for this decrease: dividend distribution, reduced operational profitability, and specific economic conditions. This decline shifts financing towards debt-generating instruments, raising concerns about external debt sustainability. Badea emphasized the importance of government policies in restoring investor confidence and maximizing the absorption of European grants, which are crucial for non-debt-generating capital. Recent data shows FDI totaled 669 million euros in early 2026, a stark contrast to 3.72 billion euros in 2025.
