UE vrea să amâne cu un an aplicarea normelor privind emisiile de metan

The European Union plans to delay the implementation of methane emission regulations for oil and gas imports by one year, despite calls for a longer grace period from some member states. The regulations, set to take effect on January 1, 2027, would require foreign suppliers to monitor and report methane emissions. EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen stated that the Commission is considering this one-year delay due to political pressures and energy supply concerns stemming from the Middle East conflict. Approximately ten EU member states, along with the U.S., have urged the EU to suspend or revise the regulation, citing readiness issues among companies. Any legislative changes would need approval from both member states and the European Parliament before taking effect.
