The EU Council has approved the "Omnibus V" package, which streamlines defense procurement and authorization processes. This legislation aims to eliminate administrative delays and enhance investment in defense, thereby strengthening Europe's defense capabilities. It includes three key regulations focused on reaction capacity, authorization acceleration, and simplifying defense product transfers within the EU. The new rules also clarify the application of EU environmental legislation to defense activities and set a maximum authorization process duration of 102 working days. The measures are designed to improve cooperation among member states and the defense industry, preparing for future challenges in security.
