The EU and Canada are set to announce a comprehensive partnership at a summit on October 29 in Montreal, focusing on trade, energy, critical minerals, technology, defense, and support for Ukraine. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation amid geopolitical challenges and trade tensions, particularly those stemming from the U.S. The partnership will accelerate investments in critical minerals and improve supply chains, while also addressing climate and resource issues. Additionally, a joint acquisition of 50 De Havilland tanker aircraft for wildfire suppression will be announced, with availability expected by 2030. Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of this collaboration in her recent State of the Union address.
