The European Union has launched a call for projects to establish up to seven AI Gigafactories, aimed at enhancing AI computing capacity and technological autonomy. This initiative is backed by up to €10 billion in EU and national funds, with an expected total investment exceeding €30 billion. The Gigafactories will provide essential infrastructure for developing advanced AI models, benefiting startups, SMEs, and public authorities. The project is part of a strategy to reduce reliance on external computing resources and ensure compliance with European data protection and ethical standards. The call is open until November 12, 2026, with project evaluations expected in early 2027.
