The Consumer Protection Cooperation Network is launching coordinated actions against nine video game companies to safeguard player rights in the EU. The initiative focuses on ensuring transparency and fairness in virtual currency usage within games, addressing issues like clear pricing, avoidance of hidden costs, and protecting vulnerable consumers. Following unsatisfactory dialogue with the gaming industry, the CPC identified several games for further evaluation and is investigating companies such as Crytek and Ubisoft. Additionally, actions are being taken against Activision Blizzard regarding compliance with EU consumer laws in specific games.
