UE amendează compania chineză Alibaba cu 550 de milioane de euro pentru vânzarea de produse ilegale

The European Commission fined AliExpress €550 million for failing to prevent the sale of illegal and dangerous products on its platform. The platform hosted counterfeit items, unsafe toys, and hazardous cosmetics that remained online for extended periods. Despite being aware of these violations, AliExpress continued to promote these products. This fine is the largest imposed under the Digital Services Act (DSA) and follows a similar penalty against rival platform Temu. The investigation revealed that AliExpress lacked sufficient staff to effectively monitor potentially illegal products, leading to inadequate checks. AliExpress must submit a remediation plan by October 20 to avoid further penalties.
