UE a suspendat banii pentru Sierra Leone, care nu vrea să-l predea pe un olandez condamnat în total la 124 de ani de închisoare

The European Commission has suspended financial aid to Sierra Leone due to the country's refusal to extradite Dutch drug lord Jos Leijdekkers, who is wanted for drug trafficking. The suspension of €18 million aims to pressure Sierra Leone into taking action against Leijdekkers, who has been living in the country since at least 2023. Dutch Justice Minister David van Weel expressed satisfaction with the decision, highlighting the corruption linked to Leijdekkers' wealth in a country with a much lower GDP. If Sierra Leone continues to refuse cooperation, an additional €22.5 million for next year may also be suspended. Leijdekkers has been sentenced to a total of 124 years in prison in the Netherlands and Belgium for drug-related offenses.
