The EU will invest 200 million euros in Greenland for energy, connectivity, raw materials, housing, and tourism projects, strengthening its partnership with Greenland and Denmark. Ursula von der Leyen announced this during her visit to Nuuk, highlighting the importance of cooperation. A joint declaration was signed to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including education and sustainable tourism. Greenland is the largest per capita recipient of EU support among overseas countries, with a proposed 530 million euros for 2028-2034, more than double the current support. The partnership is also backed by a sustainable fishing agreement.
