Ukraine is considering storing petroleum products in Hungary near the border to protect reserves from Russian attacks. MOL and Naftogaz signed a memorandum for storage development, but Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar opposes the project. The memorandum was signed during the Carpathian Economic Forum, although Hungary did not join the regional format. The ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's fuel infrastructure have prompted Kyiv to seek new supply routes and storage options. Storing fuel in Hungary could enhance supply security for Ukraine, but Magyar stated that no fuel depots will be built while his party is in power. MOL claims the project is in its early stages and does not yet require government involvement.
