EU member states have allowed Ukraine to purchase Patriot missiles using funds from a €90 billion loan. The technical decision is expected to be finalized by September 11, confirmed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. This exemption enables Ukraine to acquire equipment not typically covered by the loan's general requirement for European or Ukrainian-made arms. The €3.2 billion tranche will enhance Ukraine's air defense against ongoing Russian attacks. Meanwhile, the UK announced a new military support package for Ukraine, including missiles for Patriot systems and other military equipment, to be delivered before winter.
