Turcia a construit o linie de tren de mare viteză până la granița Bulgariei. București-Giurgiu, încă pe diesel • Newsweek România
Turkey has completed a high-speed rail line to the Bulgarian border, enhancing connections but leaving Romania's Bucharest-Giurgiu line still diesel-powered and unelectrified. The new 153-kilometer section from Çerkezköy to Kapıkule will be inaugurated on October 9, aiming to integrate several Turkish cities into the high-speed network. The project, funded by Turkey and the EU, will significantly reduce travel times between Istanbul and the border. Meanwhile, the Bucharest-Giurgiu line is undergoing modernization, with electrification expected to be completed by September 2028, improving safety and capacity for passenger and freight transport.
