CFR Călători plans to replace trains on the Bucharest Nord – Otopeni Airport route as part of a broader investment initiative. A tender has been announced for the rental of diesel multiple units (DMUs) that are no older than 27 years. The estimated contract value ranges from 27.89 million to 278.93 million lei, with a duration of 36 months and the possibility of involving up to five operators. Proposals are due by November 24, 2026, and must remain valid until March 24, 2027. Key evaluation criteria include price, age of the units, fuel consumption, and technical availability. Selected routes for the new vehicles include Bucharest Nord to various destinations, with the first delivery expected within six months of contract signing.
