Transportul naval sub amenințarea bombelor și a secetei / Cum ratează transportatorii români profituri record pe coridorul Dunării / „Nu-mi rămâne decât să aștept ca Dumnezeu să ne trimită ploaie”

The demand for river transport to Ukraine via Romania has surged due to increased bombings of Ukrainian ports. However, Romanian barges are struggling to meet this demand due to drought conditions limiting their cargo capacity. Despite high transport rates, the number of available barges is insufficient, leading to challenges in exporting Ukrainian grain. The situation is exacerbated by low water levels on the Danube, which have forced operators to reduce their loads significantly. Future navigation may remain disrupted if drought conditions persist, impacting the long-term viability of transport operations. EU-funded projects aim to improve navigation conditions, but completion is not expected before 2028.
