Transelectrica: Consumul de energie a scăzut cu 300 MW
Electricity consumption in Romania decreased by about 300 MW during peak hours after the energy alert was declared on August 1, following calls for energy savings. Transelectrica reported that the effects of voluntary reductions became noticeable from August 2, with most evenings showing lower consumption than forecasted, except for August 5. The increase in consumption on August 5 and 6 was attributed to a heatwave affecting Bucharest, which accounts for over 15% of the national energy consumption. The energy alert was initiated due to the shutdown of a reactor at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant and reduced hydroelectric production.
