The National Energy System (SEN) of Romania has surpassed 2,500 MW of new production and storage capacities connected to the grid as of August 2026. This milestone was achieved with the connection of a new storage facility, IS Părău, which has a capacity of 76.76 MW. The connected capacities include various energy sources, contributing to the diversification of the energy mix and enhancing the available resources for SEN's operation. The ongoing integration of renewable energy sources and storage capacities is crucial for maintaining energy security and flexibility. Transelectrica plans to continue connecting new capacities, with an estimated additional 1,000 MW expected by the end of 2026.
