„Trăiesc în teroare”. Mărturiile românilor de la granița cu Ucraina, unde alertele de drone sunt tot mai dese
Residents near the Romanian-Ukrainian border are increasingly affected by drone alerts and explosions, with a significant rise in aerial incidents this year. The Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported 27 drone incursions in 2023, a threefold increase from the previous year. Local residents in Isaccea, close to the border, experience fear and anxiety due to the proximity of attacks, with some unable to sleep at night. Ukrainian President Zelensky noted that border infrastructure has been deliberately damaged, prompting temporary closures of crossing points. Romania is enhancing its air defense capabilities, including acquiring new systems to counter drone threats, but locals still feel vulnerable and lack direct support.
