So far, 109 bodies have been recovered, and 64 survivors are receiving assistance at a migrant center in Obock. This tragedy highlights the dangers faced by migrants on this route, as many seek safety and work in Gulf countries. Since September 10, over 20,000 arrivals from Ethiopia to Djibouti have been recorded, totaling approximately 178,000 entries this year.
