Traficul feroviar din România, în pericol: nu mai sunt bani pentru energie, combustibil și mentenanță
The Romanian railway system is on the verge of a total shutdown due to delayed budget approvals and unpaid essential services. Union representatives have raised concerns about the critical situation caused by halted state funding. They report that budgets have not been approved for nearly two months, leading to financial arrears affecting both public and private operators, as well as CFR SA. The lack of funds for energy, fuel, and maintenance, along with unpaid infrastructure usage fees, jeopardizes the entire railway system's operation. If the situation does not improve quickly, both suppliers and the railway administrator are considering suspending services. Urgent fund release is needed to prevent train traffic stoppage and ensure employee salaries. Recent investments, such as the arrival of hydrogen trains, may be overshadowed by the lack of resources for daily operations.
