Tradiții pe 31 iulie: Lăsatul Secului de Sfânta Maria

On July 31, the eve of the Dormition Fast, Romanian villagers practiced 'Lăsatul Secului' with rich meals and rituals for household prosperity. Women arranged pots upside down to ward off misfortune, while families shared traditional foods. In some regions, large fires were lit to dispel evil spirits. Cleaning and seeking forgiveness were also important before the fasting period began.
