The number of Romanians accessing their private pension funds has significantly increased, with payments rising by nearly 55% in the first half of 2026 compared to 2025. Over 42,000 individuals received a total of 1.73 billion lei. This trend reflects the maturation of the private pension system as more people reach retirement age. The ASF anticipates continued growth in both the number of beneficiaries and the total amount paid out in the coming years. Delays in withdrawals are common, as some individuals choose to wait for potentially higher returns in a growing market.
