The National Institute of Statistics (INS) ranks Dacia as the top exporter in Romania, with the automotive sector leading the list. Ford Otosan and Star Assembly also feature prominently. The energy sector is represented by OMV PETROM and ROMPETROL RAFINARE, both with significant state participation. ALRO, a major aluminum producer, ranks 16th, highlighting its competitiveness and international market expansion. The top 1,000 exporters accounted for about 82% of Romania's total exports in the first half of 2026. Export values increased by 3.1%, while imports rose by 2.0%, resulting in a trade deficit of €19.3 billion, slightly lower than the previous year.
