The implementation of the TollRo system may increase domestic transport costs by up to 8%, according to the National Union of Road Transporters in Romania (UNTRR). They request that these costs be reflected in transport tariffs and a temporary suspension of a fixed fine of 2,000 lei when the system cannot fully determine a vehicle's route. Transporters have reported discrepancies in tariffs and operational issues during tests. UNTRR highlights difficulties in using the system, including ticket issuance time and route determination problems. TollRo is set to be operational from October 1, 2026, for freight vehicles over 3.5 tons, with tariffs based on distance, vehicle weight, emission class, and road type. A legislative proposal to suspend fines from October 2026 to March 2027 is under consideration.
