TollRo: noul sistem de taxare rutieră din octombrie

Starting August 31, 2026, Romania will implement a new electronic road toll system called TollRo for heavy goods vehicles. This system will charge based on the distance traveled, vehicle category, and pollution standards, replacing the current vignette system. The introduction of TollRo was initially set for January 2026 but has been postponed. The law defines TollRo as a distance-based fee, aligning with the 'polluter pays' principle, and applies to vehicles over 3.5 tons. Mixed-use vehicles are also included under this regulation.
