Toată flotă de elicoptere a Armatei SUA, echipată cu arme laser contra rachetelor. Contract de 4.800.000.000$ • Newsweek România

The U.S. Army has awarded a $4.8 billion contract to Northrop Grumman for the mass production of laser defense systems for helicopters. These systems, known as CIRCM, are designed to counter infrared-guided missiles and will be installed on the entire helicopter fleet, including Apache, Black Hawk, and Chinook models. The CIRCM system replaces the outdated ATIRCM and offers significant weight reduction and faster response times. It has already been installed on over 550 helicopters, with more than 700 units delivered. The U.S. Air Force is also acquiring similar infrared countermeasures for its HH-60W helicopters.
