Therme vrea să cumpere Mănăstirea Ursulinelor din Sibiu: anunță o investiție de 40 de milioane de euro
The former Ursuline Monastery in Sibiu may become a European cultural center following a significant investment from Therme Group. The Sibiu City Hall has decided not to exercise its preemptive right to purchase the property due to high costs. The Archdiocese of Alba Iulia, the building's owner, announced its intention to sell the historic monument, which includes approximately 8,000 square meters of land. A detailed analysis by the city hall recommended against the purchase, citing additional expenses for technical assessments and renovations. Therme Group plans to invest 40 million euros to transform the site into a cultural hub while preserving its historical value. The proposal will be voted on by the Local Council of Sibiu this month, amid community reactions and a petition for the monastery's preservation.
