Theodor Proca finished 7th in the 1500m freestyle final at the European Championships in Paris, clocking 15:02.15. He previously set a national record in the semifinals with 14:57.97, becoming the first Romanian to swim under 15 minutes. The final was won by Johannes Liebmann, who set a new world record. Proca's performance follows a bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2024. He was the only Romanian swimmer, besides David Popovici, to reach a final in Paris.
