A study published in the 'Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society' suggests that this event could explain long-standing discrepancies in solar models and the Sun's low lithium levels. Researchers used stellar evolution software to create models and compare them with current measurements of the Sun's internal structure. They hypothesize that the early Sun swallowed a planet five to ten times Earth's mass, which may also clarify why 'super-Earths' are common in other star systems but absent in ours.
