Romania's forests will be monitored using satellite imagery and LIDAR technology, with AI tracking timber transport. This initiative, announced by interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu, aims to combat illegal logging. The project, funded through PNRR, integrates three technologies for enhanced forest oversight. Buzoianu emphasized the importance of these tools in addressing illegal logging and improving forest management. The total project cost is 272.605 million lei, and the system is connected to SUMAL for better data accuracy.
