Police forces, customs agents, and tax inspectors from 19 European countries conducted over 160 raids related to an alleged online mobile phone fraud, causing damages of around 300 million euros. The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) reported that 1,770 officials participated in these operations, which led to the arrest of seven suspects in Austria, Germany, and Spain, including two leaders of the organization. Criminal groups sold over one million second-hand mobile phones as new, resulting in an estimated loss of over 30 million euros in VAT across several EU countries.
