Teama de dosare penale și presiunea ONG-urilor / De ce evită primarii din Brașov și Mureș să ordone împușcarea urșilor / Prefect: ”E și greu să identifice exemplarul, că sunt foarte mulți”
Following a fatal bear attack near Hoghiz, Brașov County Prefecture convened local mayors to discuss rapid intervention procedures against aggressive bears. The meeting aimed to clarify legal frameworks for action, as many mayors hesitate to order bear culling due to fears of legal repercussions from NGOs. Prefect Mihai Cătălin Văsii emphasized that local authorities have the obligation to act in such cases, despite concerns about potential lawsuits. The lack of action is also noted in Mureș County, where only three bears were culled this year due to similar fears. According to the law, intervention is permitted when bears pose a threat to people or property, allowing for measures such as relocation or euthanasia without prior authorization if necessary.
