Starting October 1, the toll system for national roads in Romania will undergo significant changes, potentially eliminating the Fetești bridge toll. This change is part of a new tax mechanism replacing the old government ordinance from 2002. The Fetești-Cernavodă toll of 19 lei, along with fees for the Giurgiu-Ruse and Calafat-Vidin bridges, will be removed. The new law will also revise the rovinieta system, adjusting fees based on pollution standards. Eco-friendly vehicles will benefit from a base fee, while more polluting vehicles will face higher charges. Rovinietas purchased before the new system will remain valid until expiration. Heavy vehicles over 3.5 tons will be charged per kilometer under a separate system called TollRO.
