TAROM's new Boeing 737 MAX 8, named after Olympic champion Ivan Patzaichin, completed its inaugural flight from Bucharest to Chișinău. The aircraft was brought from Seattle and honors Patzaichin's childhood dream of becoming a pilot. The flight included family members and officials, emphasizing the connection between Romania and Moldova. The event coincides with the centenary of Romania's first national airline routes. Patzaichin's daughter shared his lifelong passion for aviation, despite his success in water sports. TAROM aims to continue honoring Romanian sports figures through its fleet renewal program, which will add more aircraft by 2027.
