The Tabula Peutingeriana is the only surviving Roman road map, originally created in the 4th century and copied in the 12th-13th centuries. It measures nearly 7 meters long and provides insight into Roman infrastructure. Displayed briefly in 2007, it is usually kept in dark conditions due to its fragility. The map, housed in the Austrian National Library, consists of 11 sewn parchment segments. While the original is lost, the existing copy was discovered in the 15th century and named after Konrad Peutinger. Scholars debate its original date, with suggestions ranging from the 4th century to connections with Agrippa's earlier works. The map covers vast territories, listing cities and geographical features, but its representation is more of an illustrated itinerary than a conventional map.
