Greek authorities are transferring asylum seekers from Crete to reception centers in Lesbos and Samos amid local concerns about capacity. The Ministry of Migration assures that the transfers are proportionate and aimed at identification and screening. A closed meeting was held in Lesbos to address local worries, as nearly 200 asylum seekers are expected on both islands. Crete has become a primary entry point for asylum seekers, but currently lacks adequate facilities. The Greek minister is collaborating with other EU countries to establish return centers outside the EU for rejected applicants.
