Nearly 700 people were evacuated from the Croatian island of Brač due to a vegetation fire that threatened homes and tourist accommodations. The fire, first reported on Thursday, escalated dramatically, particularly near the town of Milna. Local authorities initially believed they had the situation under control, but strong winds reignited the flames. Tourists spent the night on the beach awaiting evacuation, with one elderly woman critically injured during the process. Approximately 3,500 hectares were affected, and while some buildings were damaged, a full assessment of the destruction is pending. Firefighting aircraft were deployed, and officials confirmed no open flames remained by Sunday morning, although teams continued to monitor the area.
