Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, was taken to DIICOT after being arrested while heading to swim. Supporters gathered outside the DIICOT office, with over 150 waiting for his release. He is implicated in a case involving organized crime and fraud, with damages exceeding 1.1 million euros. Following extensive searches in several locations, investigators found around 5,000 euros at his residence. Additionally, equipment for signal jamming and a Maltese senator ID were discovered in his car. The investigation targets three suspects, including two Romanians and an Italian, who allegedly formed a criminal group in 2021.
