Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, has been placed under judicial control for 60 days after being investigated for organized crime and fraud. Alongside businessman Ionel Rusen, he faced a request for preventive arrest, which the court denied. Supporters gathered outside the court, expressing their solidarity and belief in his innocence. The investigation stems from a complaint by businessman Răzvan Leu, who claims to have lost 1.1 million euros due to a fraudulent promise of external financing from Georgescu. Leu insists he had complete trust in Georgescu, who he met in 2021 through a mutual friend.
