European prosecutors, led by Laura Codruța Kovesi, conducted searches related to a fraud case involving EU funds in Romania. The operation targeted a hospital and a county council in Muntenia, focusing on a project worth 4 million euros aimed at reducing nosocomial infection risks. Investigators suspect that the project's budget was artificially inflated, with nearly 70 price quotes being potentially fraudulent. The case originated from the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) and was supported by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF).
