The tax evasion case against TikTok influencer Alexandru Zidaru, known as Makaveli, was closed after he paid the damages. Changes in tax evasion laws allow individuals to avoid penalties by fully compensating damages up to 1 million euros. Makaveli was initially detained in June for tax evasion with damages estimated at 531,047 lei but was later placed under judicial control. He is also linked to pro-Russian figure Călin Georgescu and previously ran for the Bucharest mayoralty before withdrawing in favor of another candidate.
