Romania is advancing with the acquisition of NATO-type assault weapons from SIG SAUER, entering the testing phase to ensure compliance with standards. The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the delay was due to SIG SAUER needing to provide a conformity certificate. The contract, valued at 816.6 million euros, aims for 100% local production of the weapons in Romania, involving local defense industry partnerships.
