The law, which introduces a four-month voluntary military service for individuals aged 18 to 35, was enacted in January 2026. The previous government was required to issue implementation norms within 90 days, but this did not occur before their dismissal. Although the interim defense minister has secured funding for the program, the issuance of new policies by a caretaker government is restricted by administrative regulations. The law provides various benefits for participants, including a stipend equivalent to three average salaries, totaling over 27,000 lei.
