Moldova has emerged as a surprising leader in European tourism, with a 25% increase in international tourist arrivals in the first half of 2026. This growth significantly surpasses the European average, which saw a 3% rise overall. Greece and Ireland followed with 15% increases. However, tourism trends varied across Europe, with Central and Eastern Europe growing by 4%, while Western Europe experienced a decline of 1%. Globally, international tourism only rose by 0.4% during the same period, with a modest forecast for the rest of the year.
