Magdalena Andersson, leader of the Social Democratic Party, has stepped down from forming a new government due to ideological conflicts within the left bloc. The left coalition held 176 out of 349 seats in the Riksdag, slightly more than the right bloc. Andersson stated that forming a government is currently impossible based on discussions held. The speaker of the Riksdag will now assign the government formation task to Ulf Kristersson, leader of the Moderates. However, the Center Party leader has ruled out supporting a government that includes the Sweden Democrats or the Left Party, raising the possibility of new elections.
