Suedia adoptă reducerea vârstei răspunderii penale la 14 ani - Economica.net
The Swedish Parliament has approved lowering the age of criminal responsibility from 15 to 14 years, ahead of the upcoming elections. This decision was supported by 281 members, including the opposition, while 66 voted against it. The right-wing minority government, backed by the Sweden Democrats, prioritized crime reduction since taking office in 2022. Although initially proposing to lower the age to 13, the government revised its stance due to lack of support. Many consulted authorities and NGOs opposed the change, but an expert report recommended setting the age at 14 for serious crimes. The new law will take effect on September 10, just before the elections on September 13, where recent polls show a narrowing gap between governing and opposition parties.
